When you are thinking about taking on a new diet to help you lose weight, you may feel as though intermittent fasting is a good idea. You are thinking along the right tracks. It is scientifically proven that intermittent fasting is one of the best ways to lose weight safely and consistently. The only question is what type of fasting will you decide is a good fit for your goals and personality.
The easiest way to intermittent fast is to do it every single day with the 16:8 fast. It is a type of intermittent fasting where you do not eat anything for 16 hours in the day, while you only get to eat during eight hours. Since you are probably sleeping for six to eight hours in a day, you are only fasting for eight to ten hours of being awake. The rest of the time, you can eat as you would – provided you are restricting calories in a positive way.
The 5:2 fast is a little bit different compared to the first option. It is a method of intermittent fasting where you are eating normally for five days a week. You are not doing anything unusual in those days, except cutting at least 500 calories compared to how much you burn. It is the other two days in the week when you will be asked to fast. In those two days of the week, you are eating only 500 or 600 calories in the day.
We believe the first method is a lot more viable compared to the second one. It is a great option for anyone who wants to get started with intermittent fasting, but is not sure how it is going to play out. If you are more ambitious, you can try the second method. But we would only recommend it if you want to lose weight very quickly.
